'99 Fuduro radiator advice needed

Does anyone know if a current (2001-2007) 650 GS/Dakar radiator can be retro-fitted into a '99 Funduro?

 

(in other words, are the radiatiators the same?)

Radiator

No they are not because the GS radiator has the thermostat buillt in wereas the Funduro has it on the engine. The question is what prompted this idea????

A rider who knows I have a spare late-model radiator contacted me to check fit, since his Funduro radiator is binned...

Would it not be possible to blank off the GS radiator's thermostat and then use it, or are there other fit issues?
