1200 GS DOWN : N1 UNDER OLD OAK ROAD BRIDGE
I've just been informed by Andymann that a 1200 is lying next to the N1 under the Old Oak Rd bridge with the rider lying in the road next to it.
According to the Traffic Report site it happened at 0830 and involved the rider and a truck. The rider was killed.
RIP to the rider and condolences to the family. I hope to heavens it wasn't a club member.
The rider was Etienne - CJ 11911 Red GS1200.
I confirmed that next of kin has been informed before posting. He apparently collided with the back of a truck.
Such very sad news
Do you know his surname ?

Hi Wayne, sorry no.
Whenever I hear such sad news about any rider...I stop and think and think and think.
Condolences to the family and friends.
We lost a fellow biker this morning.
Condolences to a fellow biker family who lost a loved one in such a tragic manner.
08H35:
The N1 Nb had 2 lanes closed for 2 hours this am. The red R1200GS hit the refrigerated trailer truck almost mid on the rear end and the bike was very very badly destroyed.
Truck was moving in middle lane (left was for feed onto Old Oak road) doing a respectable speed, not crawling.
The rider did not stand a chance and would not have been aware of the event, so sudden and so catastrophic.
I received three calls from people who know me, all relieved I answered my phone and then telling me of the event. I was inbound on the R300 at the time.
Just reminds one of how we are mortal and we could face such tragedy at any time.
RIP Etienne :-(
My condolences to all family and friends :(
May everyone have a peaceful, safe and enjoyable 2012.
