ABS & handlebar heater switch panel wanted

Hi All

I'm looking for a replacement switch panel for my F650GS (2001). It's the centre panel on the handlebars, with the ABS and handlebar heater switches in it. Apparently the switches cannot be bought separately.

Any advice?

Cheers,

Ben

Try fixing them

Depending on the damage or the nature of the problem you might be able to fix them.  If they are already broken you have little to lose trying.  In one case, my indicator cancel switch broke (the internal bit).  Shane gave me some old switch unit for a totally different bike, and I was able to salvage the internal microswitch and solder it in place of the broken one.

Another time, I dropped the little spring and lever of the front brake lever switch into the bike and it was lost forever.  Some internet searching, and help from this forum, helped me identify an equivalent switch available from a company in Paarden Island.  At a tenth of the BMW price, I had an identical part to replace it.

Other times, all it took was a bit of cleaning...

I recently repaired mine.

If someone can recognize & identify the microswitch, we may be able  source a replacement...

Some hope

I can't identify the microswitch, but I recognize it as the one I had to replace.  On mine, the actuator had split and bending the contacts was not going to help.  So I just cut out the old one and soldered in the one I salvaged from an old switch cluster.  There are quite a few of these in a typical cluster.  You could buy an old, even broken cluster, from ACME salvage, or get one donated from a dealer who has just replaced someone's cluster (to fix one switch Smile), or get one from me from the cluster I was given.
