Just want to know if this will be costly to fix. ABS does not work now and warning lihgt stays lit while riding. Last week it still worked fine. BMW K1200GT.

Can be as cheap as a visit to your friendly dealer

They hook it up to the computer and it tells them what is wrong.  Sometimes a faulty brake light switch, sometimes a damaged wire, sometimes nothing at all.  Then they just reset it and it works again.

I've been in and it was just a reset, and other times worse and more expensive.  Worth doing regardless of the cost - brake failure can be painful.

ABS Warning Light

My Technician says the Brake Pads (BMW) on the Gt have sensors to warn when pads are worn and apparently the warning comes whilst their is still plenty wear left.Just pop in to your nearest dealer who will be able to check this for you.

It may be your battery that

It may be your battery that is deteriorating. ABS is very sensitive to low battery voltage - the first indications of an ageing battery (ie loosing capacity) is that ABS refuses to initialise when the bike is started. The starter draws a lot of current, then voltage drops too low momentarily, then ABS says  NoGo. Intermittend initially, lateron at each start.

If ABS initialises properly, then lateron signals a problem, it may be a sensor, a connection or brake pads.
