Hi Graham,

I live near Biketique and this sounds promising. I do have something on tomorrow, however.

When I received the initial invitation it was not clear to me just what the format of the ride would be? Will it be all on-road or some off-road? It would be cool to do regular semi off-road rides originating in the southern suburbs.

Cheers and enjoy the ride,

Tian

Hi Tian

Road bikes ( BMW) are the most neglected riders and we thought to

create something for them.

There are also a LOT of Dual Purpose bikes around that are only used on tar !

Also Southern Suburbs riders do not seem to have too many rides originating in the South so hopefully we can get something going from here and see whether we can grow this segment.

However off road rides will also be possible but there are a lot of rides organised by a lot of clubs/people so there is not shortage of events.

Nothing ventured - nothing gained !

I am open to suggestions from anybody.............

Lets RIDE !

Graham

Interesting comment you make Graham.

I don't believe that it is true though. A perfect example is the upcoming "All the Passes"  ROAD Tour to Oudtshoorn.

This ride is aimed primarily at the Roadies.

Out of the 50+ entries we already have I can virtually count on one hand the amount of "Roadies" that are joining us on "road" bikes.

The recent Sutherland Tour had a similar situation.

This is by no means an exception, it is unfortunately the Norm.

Having said this we applaud any initiative that gets more Roadies riding on outings other than the breakfast runs!

Oopsie !

Hi Geoff

Please forgive me for creating the wrong impression.

It will teach me a leason for responding (hastily) in between the workload.!

That is NOT what I meant at all

I am talking about SOUTHERN SUBURBS road bike rides...by that I mean not off-road......shorter 2 hour flings.........bums on seats etc........(distance riding is for Sundays due to heavier traffic loads on Saturdays)

I do realise that the market has changed a lot and away from the traditional road bikes for many reasons but I do believe that there is a need for just a simple fun ride that is not going to take up too much time.

One fuel tank (cheap) range.

By road bikes I am referring to all types of roadworthy bikes ie F650GS / R1100/1150/1200GS/R1200R/F800S./R1200S even Dakars

This is one way of getting motorcyclist to expand their circle of friends without having to join a club........I know of many buddies that get together in small groups even if only to spend some time in the saddle.

As I said I am not trying to compete with club events at all but rather just trying out something for the local riders and of course the newbies whom we sell to on a regular basis.....people that we seldom see on Sundays at the traditional venues.

Lets ride

(I hope that I m getting my intent across a bit more clearly this time.....

Running low on time again.........

Have a fun +safe week end guys

Biketique Just Ride

Always looking for some one to ride with early on Saturday mornings starting from anywhere in/near Cape Town!!!!

Unfortunately at work this morning. Would be very keen for a ride next Saturday (only if it is not raining)starting early say 07:45, ride to the Engen on the Malmesberry road, have breakfast, then a fast ride to Malemsberry, past Riebeck West on to Tulbagh, have some coffee some where & then back the same route.

What do you think?
