At Kingtek - he replaced my battery a while ago with a really good, more powerful, yet cheaper battery.  Search for Kingtek in the search box and you will get his credentials (in Retreat business park).

You can try Deltec in Paarden Eiland as well.

Battery for 800GS needs replacing

Andrew my 1 cents worth is that at the beginning of the 2010 winter the battery of my 1150GS started giving problems. I realised that with the little winter use I do this will happen again even with a new battery. I then proceeded to buy a Cytek charger and then I put the old battery on charge. I am still using that same battery.

Adventure Rider in Northgate

Adventure Rider in Northgate Paarden Eiland, has two types of battery, both cheaper than the original BMW version.

The standard replacement lookalike is half, or less than half the price but it is the same spec.

The high tech replacement has a higher spec and is less than 1/3 of the weight.  This battery only loses something like 10% of its charge over a 12 month period if it is not used, whereas our normal batteries lose that in a month (the spec might be better than that but I can't remember the exact figures).  The price of this one is still lower than the original battery.

I also agree with Toppie ... using an intelligent charger keeps your battery going way beyond its normall sell-by date.

High tech battery

Has any one had any real world exposure to these 'high tech" batteries?

As I understand it they are Ballistic Batteries (http://www.ballisticparts.com/) or lithium ferrous type batteries.

Very light weight (<1kg) and smaller and supposedly lose little charge but at the same time have good capacity & starting ability. Per marketing blurb also fully sealed, no leakage, long service life etc etc etc etc.

On paper looks interesting & I know battery technology has advanced greatly over the last while but any one taken the plunge & used one on BMW who can feedback?
