Does anyone know if there is any truth in this? Someone said to me last week that if you have a car license and have a learners for a bike,  there is a possibility that the traffic department might do away this year with the "practical" test and award a bike license based on the above.

That sounds stupid enough to be right

Typical government stupidity.  It should be the other way around - if you have a car license, you know enough about rules of the road not to need to do a bike learners.

But rules of the road and car driving skill does not translate into bike-riding skill.  The bike drivers test must stay - the skills you need to pass it are basic but essential bike-riding skills.

The real waste of time and money is rewriting that stupid multiple-guess learners test even after you have passed it before for other vehicles and have been driving for ages.

For the last two years they

For the last two years they have been talking about getting your learners ONCE, then only doing the practical for other classes.

In fact they want to go full tilt and copy the American system (been watching too many movies me thinks ...) and include learners as a subject at high school level.

Gallows Hill

Remember the U-turn at the top of the steep road opposite the Traffic Dept in Greenpoint as part of the bike license test? It was peasy on a 125 but I doubt I would be able to do that now .
