BMC Air Filters for Dakar 650 - found a good price!
Hi guys,
Thought I'd add some value from the newbie-corner!
My first upgrade is going to be the air-filter for obvious reasons, when the service intervel on my 'new' baby rears it's head. I got to doing some research and the average price I found for the unit was hovering around R1000 in CPT (even from online stores).
I'm fairly 'engineery' and hands-on.. I'd like to service her myself etc, so after a bit more research, I popped into the local shop Kawasaki South.
They don't carry the part on their shelves but the chap was only too happy to call his agent and order one for me. It came to R800 odd rands! So I will be collecting it in the new year when the agents re-open :)
So this leads me to my question: where do you guys shop in and around CPT for your BMW / Grey parts?
Before you buy the BMC filter, inquire about the K&N one, I got one for my wife's 650 for about half that price, although it was much earlier in the year.
You get it from Masterparts, part number is BM6501.
For my 800 I was pleasantly suprised to get a BMC filter from a BMW Dealer for less than I could get it anywhere else.
Hi Warren,
Thanks mate, that sounds excellent! I will give them a buzz (both Masterparts - there's one down the road in Kenilworth) and BMW.
Good thing that the supplier was closed until early Jan :P
What Dealer would that be Warren?
Trevor Versfeld just happen to be there when I phoned him to tell him how much Trac Mac wanted for the filter he recomended. He phoned me back not long after that with a better price from Shafiek.
Thanks Warren, Shafiek had one for me
