BMW Bike Fest 2010

You are invited to join us for the annual BMW bike owners' event!
- Date: Friday 19th of March – Monday 22nd of March 2010
- Venue: Kleinplaas Resort, Oudtshoorn, in the heart of the Klein Karoo, Western Cape.
- Registration cost: R 200.00 per person
- Routes available: Plenty of fantastic on-road and off-road options.
- Who’s welcome? Any BMW motorcycle owner (and pillion!) or BMW Club member who’s adventurous and looking forward to a fantastic weekend.
Introduction
Scheduled for the long weekend in March, this event promises to be two full festive days of celebrating the fantastic bikes we ride. It will also give us the opportunity to enjoy the excellent fellowship of like-minded people and make use of the local expertise of hosting well-known events like the KKNK to turn our meeting into a festival of note. And if that’s not enough the routes we’re going to explore offer pure biking heaven.
Karoo Guitars: These must be the guys Geoff told us about: apparently they don't know how to play - the guitars came with the music inside already!
"It has to be an Adventure. It has to be a Festival. And it has to offer more choices!" – These comments summarised some of the feedback we received at the BMW Bikers Gathering.
So we consulted the experts, called in the specialists and considered our past, as well as our future, before our plans started taking shape. The name was changed from the "Annual BMW Bikers Gathering", or "ABBG" to "The BMW Bike Fest". This event has a long-standing tradition, originally organized by the BMW Clubs themselves and subsequently taken over by BMW.
The team also felt that the new format needed to be about BMW bikes, be more owner orientated and that a mere “gathering” wouldn’t cut it anymore – it needed to be a “Festival”!
The venue
When asked about the most popular events in the past, Oudtshoorn featured every time – no doubt because of the venue, the great routes and the good times people have had here. So it really was a no-brainer to return to the Klein Karoo for the inaugural BMW Bike Fest!

Are there any club plans for going up on Friday? Is there any planned vehicle going up from Cape Town? I would also prefer to go Tar to get there.
I'm registered and confirmed. Taking road route to event. At this stage riding up on my own but would prefer to join up to form a group ride. Will watch this thread.
Lawrence (650 twin)
OK I am IN. Registered and paid.
Who else is going?
Julie's folks will be in Sedgefield in the week before, so we are going there on holiday and rounding it off with this event in Oudtshoorn. Already booked.
This means we won't ride up with the club, but will ride back with the club.
Details have now been updated here, and bookings are open. Use the forum thread to coordinate rides. Our club will have organized rides on tar and on dirt to the venue, catering for all levels of riding skill and competence.

Bookings are open via www.bmwmotorrad.co.za, but have patience if your wife rides her own bike or you want to register for someone else.
Work hard; play hard; never play when you work!
This sounds great. I have just heard about it and looking forward to more details. This is in my home town too!
Ill be in Mossel Bay for that weekend attending the Buff. I've already planned an outride up to Oudtshoorn for the day to go have a look-see at this one. See you there!
This looks interesting, more details please. I'll be in SA during that time.
Jacques and myself are also in. With whom do we have to book?
Nice! We're in. Where do we get more info?
Work hard; play hard; never play when you work!
