BMW MCC Cape : Proposed long distance On and Off road Tours for 2012 : We need your input please
Following on the tremendous success of our recent "ROADIES" Tour to the Eastern Cape and the Free State. As well as our 3 fully booked "Dirties" (Off Road) Tours to the Eastern Cape Drakensberg and the Namibia Tour we must now start planning our Long distance Tour agenda's for 2012.
I mentioned a few of my plans at our last Club meeting but now need your assistance.
Planning these Tours takes months and months of our time so we do not want to waste this on Tours that are not going to be supported. We really need an indication from you as to which of the following suggested Tours you would want to join. Remember this is only an "indication" but this will help us to know what we should be working on and what to leave out.
I am including a thumb suck price as an indication of the cost of each Tour. This price will include all our accommodation on a DB&B basis as well the back up team where applicable.
I have included some old itineraries from previous Tours purely for your info.
All dates are yet to be confirmed. Wild Coast Extreme will be in August.
1) The 2012 "Roadies" Tour :
We are sure that this will be fully booked but please indicate if you would be interested in joining us. If there is enough interest we can look at squeezing in a second one.
Tour duration :
8 nights - 9 days (Saturday to the following Sunday) only 5 days leave necessary.
Destination :
We are investigating numerous options. Western, Eastern Cape and OFS. A route around Lesotho may be an option.
Cost :
R6000.00 Per person
2) Off Road (DIRTIES) :
Transkei Wild Coast Extreme :
We have again had a number of requests to do another Wild Coast Extreme Tour.
This is a tough Tour for the more experienced riders. To contain costs we will shorten the duration and possibly the length of the ride.

9 nights & 10 days

3) Off Road :
Laid back Eastern Cape Drakensberg Tour. This Tour will be "pillion" friendly and will suit riders of average ability. Not rank beginners.
The Tour will however teach you a heck of a lot about riding off road and we will still ride quite a few of the legendary passes in the area.

4) Off Road :
Eastern Cape Drakensberg, normal Tour.

General comments :
(Tony Schlee)I would try to do two long tours if they are far enough apart on the calendar.
- Either E. Cape or Namibia
- Either E. Cape laid back or Roadie tour with Adrienne
So, definitely one tour and possibly two next year.
Option 1 for me and B
Option 3 and 5 appeal. Same comment as Tony regarding spacing, however to be realistic maybe only one a year is viable. (and will definately be done)
Option 4
Definitely interested in option 1, 3 and possibly 5, depending on when they are.

hope this trip is not at the end of April as I will be off to the caribbean from 19th till 5 May.
Knowing ahead of time will also help so that I do not book other trips where I would much prefer to do the bike trips.
All weekends away for roadies please count me in too.
