BMW MOTORRAD DAYS - 2012 European Tour : Join us at the biggest BMW event in the World : Fully booked
BMW MOTORRAD DAYS - 2012
Geoff and I are looking at putting together a European Tour in July 2012. Many people have expressed interest in this tour, so, come and join some of your fellow club members for the trip of a lifetime in July 2012. Although this is not an official club tour, we would like to extend the invitation to all of you to join us on the tour. We will be visiting BMW Motorrad Days 2012, held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain – the Zugspitze, just south of Munich. Best of all is that this is just the start to our tour through the Alps, taking in Germany, Austria and Italy.
Read the attachment below for the full itinerary.
From July 6th to July 8th, you will be
in the company of over 30 000 BMW Motorrad enthusiasts from all over the
world, to celebrate BMW motorcycles and the people who ride them. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to
enjoy some of the most popular riding in the Alps! If you are a BMW Motorrad enthusiast, and you
enjoy touring, have dreamt about riding the Alps, then BMW Motorrad Days 2012
is a must on your tour calendar for 2012.
Our Adventure begins and ends in Munich, Germany. After picking up our BMW machines in Munich,
we will ride via Garmisch into Lermoos, Austria, where we will spend two nights
in a splendid four star hotel. We will
use this as our base whilst we visit the BMW Motorrad Days event, and take part
in some fantastic outrides in and around the area.
Thereafter, we head for Italy, and we will experience some of the most famous passes in the Alps, including perhaps the most famous pass of all - the Stelvio. From Italy, we will ride into Austria, meandering through small towns and villages, as we head to Mayrhofen. Here, we will have a rest day. There are many leisure activities, from exploring the scenic mountains to tandem paragliding.
When we leave Mayrhofen we ride to Regensburg in Germany where we spend our last night while “on tour”. Here we will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of Bavarian food and entertainment at its best. We leave Mayrhofen and head back to Munich where we return our trusty steads. Then, we visit the world famous BMW Museum and BMW Welt.
One last night to enjoy German beer and bratwurst before we leave and return home.
We leave South Africa on Thursday 5 July and our tour starts on Friday 6 July in Munich. We will leave Munich on Sunday 15 July and arrive back home on Monday 16 July.

Please note that the price quoted is for riders hiring a BMW 1200 GSA. Smaller bikes are less expensive thereby reducing the cost.
We will have pillion rates shortly.
Conrad and Jacqui very interested....
Dies klingt wie eine sehr gute Idee
Meine Frau sagt nein. Sie ist über die Deutsch betroffene Frau!
Geoff, ich werde mit Ihnen später diskutieren.

Shew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The response to this invitation has been nothing short of phenomenal. Thanks to all who have been in contact with us.
Many people are however contacting us and asking for more detail regarding the Tour. From this it is evident that the "attachment" in the original post is not being read by everybody. If you are interested read the attachment as most all of the info is contained therein.
Thanks for responding.
Is this a fixed tour, or will it be possible to extend our stay with, for instance, another 7 or 8 days after the group have flown back to SA? The World Superbikes are at Brno in the Czech Repl. the follwoing weekend and it creates an opportunity to involve even more biking pleasure into this amazing European tour. Also, pillion price please. Benna.
Please put my name on your list.
Greetings,
Tertius Kruger
Ich bin so aufgeregt
Hi Geoff You can put my name on the list.Extending the the tour sounds great.

I have not been to Europe for something like 55 years and yes you can say that things have changed somewhat.
Ian and I rec'ced this trip in July and it was a blast, other than the first day we had the most magnificent weather.
The BMW Fest is amazing, there are goods to improve/convert your bike, strict dicipline is needed, the word pauper does come to mind. Companies selling trips anywhere in the world.
Be prepared to put on weight, the food hall will blow your figure. The party is stunning. The party that Ian is on about, THIS party rocked big time.
I worked on R10-00 to the Euro except when it came to beer and fuel then it was 1 to 1, made sense, even to those with short hands and deep pockets.
Hotel accomodation is cheaper than in the RSA, we are being ripped off big time.
My total costs including presents
was less than R33k. money well worth spent.
Should you do the trip? console yourself with S.K.I. I did, it's less painful.
Do the trip it will amaze you.
Thanks to everyone for your response to this tour. We have a list of those that are interested and will be in touch with you in the next few days.
A number of people have asked about extending the tour - we have been in touch with the travel agent re changing return flights for those that wish to extend and are waiting for an answer on this.
I will be posting further information about the tour on the forum as it becomes available.
For those that are joining us, please make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months after the return date (We return mid July) - this is a visa requirement. You still have time to get a new passport if yours does not meet this requirement.
Moto GP - Germany
Motp GP - Italy
It would be nice to attend at least one seeing as it is in the window of opportunity!
Just curious !
( I would hate to be the organiser - can you imagine everybody trying to include something of their own!)

Our planning for this Tour is at an advanced stage and Ian will be posting details regarding our bookings and deposit payment shortly.
We have over 30 people on the list.
Any news on the pillion price?
Will have it very soon.
We are struggling to get accommodation for the group in certain places and the Rand / Euro is not helping us!!!!!!!
Then the bike rental guys are not coming back to us.................what a job!!!!!!!!
Ian & I had a long meeting today trying to tie up the loose ends but arranging an overseas Tour is much more difficult than a local one..........and our German is about as good as my Swahili!
My wife has just reminded me that I speak fluent Swahili after lots of Vodka??
We are hoping to have the final arrangements out tomorrow late but I am guessing closer to Friday.
All arrangements have been finalised and the "request for final booking" sent out to those whose names are on the list.
We ended up with +-38 people on our list. However we are only taking 16 riders with us thereby allowing us to easily break the group into 2 groups of 8 bikes.
Tock.....................
Hi Ian and Geoff, sorry that I'm late, but I've been away (again!). I am also very interested, if it is not too late?
Thx, Du Toit
The Tour is full with bikes & accommodation booked and deposits paid.
I have put you on the waiting list DuToit.
