BRAKE DISCS FOR 1150 BEING MADE - ANYONE WANT?
After hunting around and doing some research, I've found a place that is owned by a biker who makes brake discs and has a good track record with various different bikes.
I'm having discs made for my 1150 at R1,500 each, as opposed to R3,200 each from BMW.
They are heat treated and made of high chrome steel of the correct spec and cut by waterjet.
Anyone interested, let me know, they take about 2 weeks to go through the whole manufacturing process.
So far having 2 sets made, one set for me one set for Andyman.
what about for the 650. Do they make it too and +- how much

They will definitely make for us.
The process is that we have to remove the disc and take it to them to have a template made. You get the disc back the same day so you can get your bike running again immediately, and then they take a few weeks to manufacture.
Not sure what the cost of the 650 disc would be but I imagine it would be the same price.
I think I have an old 650 disk that we can use for the template if you're interested. Save you stripping your bike.
You say 'take off your disk'. I nearly broke my arm trying to loosen just one of the torx bolts that fasten the disk to the wheel. I have not gotten even one loose, ever.

Try an impact driver Charles. I'll let you know how I fare with the rear wheel, the front wasn't a problem.
I've been thinking of buying a small compressor and one of those wrrrr wrrrr tools that looks like a drill, called a hammer something or other.
I recently had to take my KDX gearbox apart and could for the life of me not get the bolt off the clutch basket. Tried for most of the Sunday with all sorts of tools and planks and sprays and....... not even close.
The next day Jason's (CPR) girlfriend Natasha brought home a compressor and said tool from work and we didn't even have to lock the engine, just put it on wrrrr wrrrr and it was off in seconds. Absolutely amazing.
Peter I do however have an impact driver if you need to borrow one.
Thanks Warren. I do have an impact driver (though not a wrrr wrrr version
) one just needs to be careful not to damage the aluminium parts when whacking it.
Neil has pointed out that a light application of heat also helps break the locktite that is on the bolts. Don't make the metal glow though or you'll alter the hardness characteristics of the material.
Pete,
Pierre Fourie working here with me also has same bike and would like a disc cut for him toooooooooooooo
