And more and more people just kept on arriving - finally we were almost 40 people.
After the breakfast everybody just hung around for friendly conversation ....

For everyone that was/is worried about Jane - she is "fine". She will go in for an opperation on her hand on Tuesday, but otherwise she is doing well. Looking at that brace, everybody was wispering: "Hoe lyk Neil?"

Then finally we had to head back (not sure why the heck I bothered to go back for the F1) Tags:

Thanks to Brian for leading a superb ride. Great pace and excellent progress through till Franschoek.
I had a ball over the pass, although the wind was a resident hazard which would occassionally force the bike wide on some turns. Still, I was deposited to the end of F/Hoek pass with a crazy grin.
Having regrouped, while touring towards the N2, I notice Cliff pulling to the side. With memories of the incident at the last club meeting, James and I turn back. Soon, we find Cliff sheepishly grinning - 'twas a natures call! :-o
By now the group has dissappeared. We mistakenly take the first turning to Greyton, ending at a dirt road which we're not about to risk on road tyres.
Breakfast, as Chris said was excellent, and for only R55.00 well done to Vernon for organising this.
After breakfast, a small group of us decided to ride the coast road via Kleinemond. the wind was howling, often blowing the bikes across the road, and leaving the Dakar and 650GS struggling to make headway.
After an excellent ride along the coast, we stopped in at the marina in Gordon's Bay for a pint. I'll leave Andy to explain how one thanks drivers :-;
It was a great day out. I enjoyed seeing everyone and the chats. It was great having the bike fitted with the Starcom and I instantly zoned back in to enjoying my ride with music and chat. Got home shattered and after a quick shower, was sleeping beauty in minutes.
Thanks again, another great club ride.

Sounds like you guys had fun.
We arrived after you in Greyton for a late lunch.
Even ate at the same restaurant.
The owner told us you guys encountered some serious wind in Villiersdorp... so what did we do?
We went via Villiersdorp.
The wind was insane.
It kept trying to take my front wheel out from under me.
I was not a happy camper.

Thanks Brian.
Belinda and I had a great time. We even stopped off on the way back for coffee and cake. A bit windy for the Cruiser though.

Thank you all. I enjoyed my first ride with the club. After not riding for 11 years, Franschoek Pass was a bit scary. I must go back there and ride it again cause I couldn’t take in any of the scenery, was just keeping my eyes on the twisties.
Was almost blown off the bike on the N2 back home but made it back safe.

I thoroughly enjoyed a great ride leading all the BMW's through a faster than normal pace as we had a long way to go (165km's) and had to get there early enough to enjoy a great breakfast. A few of the riders thanked me for a fantastic scenic ride at a good pace and we still had time to enjoy the scenery. As Padlangs put it "enjoyed the scenery - this is what I LOVE about this club". Well said Padlangs and we hope we see more of you and Greta on these rides. Thanks to Vernon for his part in arranging the venue and thanks to Andre for the fantastic breakfast. He served 38 people in record time without a hitch.
This is a venue that will always remain on the agenda as far as breakfast runs are concerned.
Yes - we did encounter some heavy wind on the return trip BUT that’s what motorcycling is all about - the RIDE!

This "terrible" trip report has reminded me once again of what I have been missing. It brought back all the memories of the great club rides I had in the past with you guys ...... I am beginning to hope that I can join you again one day.

No need to "hope" - 8:00 by Engen en ry saam. So maklik ou maat.
Brian, jip we will be doing "more" rides - BUT I am still not finished with my building work. :(
Just to bring everybody into the picture:
- In January we moved to a new house, as these things go we are doing some alteration (with me personally doing the brick laying etc)
- In March I started a new job, putting in some extra hours to make a success of it.
- I have a "little Internet venture" that takes up a 10 to 20 hours per week ....
So as much as we would love to do even more rides I will have to concentrate on the building work if I want to finish the braai room before the next winter - now that is IMPORTANT. You have NO idea how grumpy I get when I can not braai, just because the weather is misserable !!!
It just means that we will be very selective in the rides we do, until our time frees up again.

Henk did I speak to you at Engen just before we left? Did you park on the concrete slab, slightly higher than where the other bikes parked?
Next time I would like to put a face to your name.
Similarly I would also like to meet you Jeremy.
WELCOME gents !

You'll find most of us have this affliction. The only exception I know of is Dave Higgs, and possibly Cheesy. So it is OK to admit it and ask for someone's name again.
You must know how tough it is as webmaster, everyone knows me and all about me, and treats me like a friend, but I am just a terrible techie who battles with names, bikes, conversation, manners and other things ;-)

Hi Jeremy
Just before we departed we quickly greeted - but next time I will have to ask your name again ... Sorry
Last year I used to light the fires at the club meeting - so EVERY ONE got to meet me - NO WAY that I can remember everyones name.
Last week I was at a dealer and "somebody" came over and greeted me and started talking like we were old buddies - imagine my humiliation as I had to ask hime where we know each other from ... the braai fire ...
Moral of the story - there are about 200 paid up members (plus their better halves) and probably another 100 former members that often pop in for a ride - Other than Dave Higgs and Cheezy I do not know of any one that knows everybody ....

Ooh now I understand the reason why Neil's bike is soooo slow, he has a rear brake as well.
