Graham, Having had a few

Graham,

Having had a few GSA's over the years and too easily scratching a few of the screens here are my tip's:

Only was with soapy water and your hand (without rings on) to wash the screen. Keep a small container of sunlight in your pocket.

Do not use the "squeegee" sponge thing at the garage.

Only dry the screen with a chammy. Dry it by dabbing it on the screen and not rubbing it.

When the screen is dry spray Mr. Min onto it and rub off with a soft dry cloth.

Others will have other ideas but this insures that I do not scratch the screen.

mr min

best I find is lots of Mr Min spraying it on with bugs and guff still on, leave it for a while then start wiping it taking care to turn the microfiber cloth to never have hard bug pieces left on the swipe surface of the cloth, after that I use an old t-shirt folded in a buffing pad with all seams tucked away to shine it up.

Sounds much more onerous than it really is and after about 3 years I have not added any swirl marks/scratches

.

Thank you Geoff and tkb for the sound advice.I bought my preveous 1200 gs in 2008 and although I washed it regularly, but did not apply any thing other than soap and water the screen had gone dull with no shine. Thank you both once again

Interesting Corne.

I have used MR. Min for years on the entire bike and my visors (even my goggle lenses) with no visible adverse effect.

Geoff, you dont fall in this category - you never ride a vintage.

Agree with Geoff

I think that problems only occur if:

  1. You leave it on for too long before wiping it off, or
  2. you use it on the special soft fog-absorbing layers of a visor.

I do not use Mr.Min on my Uvex visor, though it is great on the cheaper visors of older helmets.

or just clean the old fashioned way - leave a wet cloth/old towel draped over the screen for a couple of minutes to loosen all the grime and insects. Clean off with water and dry with soft cloth or chamois.
