Here's where you can contribute your suggestions for issues that the incoming Committee should consider. Note that I'm not standing for or on the Committee but I opened my big mouth online and got volunteered for creating this post Foot in mouth so here goes the first suggestion:

1. Look at the rules around Club rides: level of commitment from riders; deposits and refundability (or not) thereof relative to the proximity of the trip starting; policy around refunds (none, full, partial, cost-recovery basis, etc) for people who have paid in full but are then forced to withdraw, with or without reference to specific circumstances that prompt the withdrawal.

Remember: the ride captains are volunteers and also doing this for fun, so don't suggest procedures that will result in admin headaches for trip organisers.

Boesman your final comment is

Boesman your final comment is spot on.

My comments below are not directed to any one individual/s or past post.

Shoot me or crucify me if you like, this is how I feel about things.

When this club was formed 30+ years ago the constitution consisted of about 4 lines to keep life simple, afterall do we join the club to have/create strife, I think not. Now that the club has grown we have 4 ++++ rules, we are all mature adults and here to derive pleasure from each individual. This club is for enjoyment, (we had a ball on Andy's trip yesterday) Let's not get into mega discussions and challenge various rules let us enjoy life on our toys with the great members this club has. If there is something that you are not happy with GO AND JOIN ANOTHER CLUB AND TAKE YOUR GRIPES WITH YOU.  The committee put in a LOT of effort into organising various functions for OUR pleasure remember. And each committee member would appreciate the assistance from the floor to organise a function.

Have fun guys/girls, life is tooo short.

There is no way on earth to please each and everyone with everything. Rules were not decided upon by one person but by many. So if some of the rules is against your principles, then I shall repeat Cheesy,s sentence of "GO AND JOIN ANOTHER CLUB AND TAKE YOUR GRIPES WITH YOU".

We have a wonderful club so don't try and stir up feelings amongst the members.

Time for change

I joined the BMW club because of encouragement to do so by other members and,  thought it would be a good way to meet people to ride with as I am new to the motorcycle thing!  So for now I am not going to join another club, but...

I think the following should be discussed by committee or possibly at a General meeting :

Taken from the constitution (maybe from the original 4 rules):

7.6 The Secretary shall post written notice of the AGM or Special General Meeting

to each paid-up member of the Club at least 21 days prior to such meeting. Such notices shall be addressed to each member’s last known address and shall specify the business to be conducted at the meeting.

Perhaps this should be changed to reflect the communication style now most used by the club - forum and or email

And another:

7.5 The Club shall hold an Annual General Meeting within 2 months of the end of each Financial year.

Has this happened yet? financial year ended last day Feb.

Good Idea

I like Rhian's suggestions.  Anything that makes life more simple gets my vote, after all we're here for the people, the bikes and the riding; let's minimise the admin - I'll bring it up at the next meeting.
