DAY RIDE on 26 December 2007.

Only two people pitched up for the much publicized "DAY RIDE on 26 December 2007", Corné and myself. Corné suggested we go on our own ride, I did not want to go too far and Paarl and back is too straight and boring. So I suggested back roads via Durbanville to N7. We waited about 30 minutes for more people to arrive then left Engen alone to N1, Jip de Jager to Durbanville, Contermans Kloof to N7. Turned left to Vissershok then right towards Bothasig. Some long, 130km/h bends, made a u-turn and did them again. Turned left towards Durbanville and went up the mountain to Bloemendal restaurant. Hey, Padlangs, I took the RT OFF-ROAD, without knobblies. Bloemendal1Bloemendal1 OK so the OFF-Road was just the parking area but I did it, some people just talk about doing it. :-) Bloemendal2Bloemendal2 The people at Bloemendal were very friendly and offered us free bottomless coffee, they only offer breakfast for a block booking and are very eager to have us. Bloemendal7Bloemendal7 The view is great Bloemendal3Bloemendal3 Bloemendal5Bloemendal5 If we judged their breakfast by looking at the lunch menu .... Bloemendal8Bloemendal8

We left at 8:30, not a soul in sight Found this now UPDATE !!! Dave indicated UPDATE !!! Dave indicated that the Day ride on 26 December starts at 9:00, still at Engen Plattekloof. This allows those that "enjoyed" the night before a little extra time to "recover". See you on 26 December. Maybe it is time to fix "Upcoming Events" to prevent things like this happening again Start: 2007/12/26 - 00:00 End: 2007/12/26 - 23:59 Charles, this is a "BMW" club site :-)

Hi William, I myself decided to wait along the road between Worcester and Robertson for the pack to arrive. I eventually decided that I missed them and continued on my own trip. I left Gordons Bay to Grabouw, Viliersdorp, Robertson,Bonnievale, Swellendam, Bredasdorp then stopped at Cape Augullas. Return via Bredasdorp, Napier, Stanford, Hawston, Hermanus, Kleinmond back to Gordons Bay. The GPS say 503Km for the trip. Just arrived back home. Although I missed the rest of the people I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

It seems that confusion was the victor and the end of the day - the good news is that BMW was again well represented on the open roads ...!!! I have to admit - reading this is a bit funny though. Keep it SAFE !!
