Heidenau K76 or Trailwing T152?
2 November 2009 - 2:10pm
I need to replace my Battle wing tyre (rear). Which one of these tyres do you think is best. I do about 90% of my riding on tar. I commute daily from Strand to Cape Town come rain or shine so I am looking for a tyre with good wet weather grip. It must also give me good mileage. I currently have the K76 front and need a new rear urgently.
Thanks

I did not get great mileage
I did not get great mileage out of the k76 I had on the back. I think they have changed the compound of k76 now. I'm getting better mileage out of my current k60 than I did from the k76.
This is my opinion and things may have changed by now.

You don't say what kind of
You don't say what kind of offroad riding you do. Is it gravel highway only, or is there mud, water, sand and rock from time to time.
True, you commute every day, but when you are out having fun on the weekend do you want to be limited? Within reason of course.
I have K60's because they last well, don't limit me on the dirt in my fun time, and don't stop me from commuting or doing track days. YMMV.

I have been using K76 for
I have been using K76 for some time and find that the ride is firmer but in all other respects as good as Metzler @ half the price, Mileage is much of a muchness.

How will the K76 compare to
How will the K76 compare to the Maxxis Presa Detour?
I heard the Maxxis does not give good mileage. Is this correct?

I got very good mileage out
I got very good mileage out of my Maxxis PD - they did 10k before I took them off to put on knobblies, and they are still good and waiting at Atlantic for me to put them on again...
For the price they are excellent value, and not much different to the Anakees that all the dual-purpose (90% tar, 10% dirt highway) guys seem to like.
Andyman swears by them.
