I need some advice with regards to a traffic notice that I have received. Apparently I was doing 137km/h in a 60 zone. I received a photo in the mail, and is still waiting for the summons, due to the speed there is no admission of guilt fine.

I am very sure that I was not going at that speed because I never ride so fast in town. Maybe if it was on the highway, but definitely not in a residential area.  It happened in Strand near the Somerset Mall. It was not a fixed camera, but a hand held one.

The picture is very dark and you can hardly see any details.  What are my options? Can anybody give me some recommendation as to how to handle this, and get the fine as low as possible?

Thanks

Speeding fines

Hi Stofpad

Jokes aside.

I have had about 4 speeding fines taken with these mobile cameras and only recieved

notices with ever getting  1 summons.

1. On the M3 going into town early one Sunday morning (February 2009) (07:40 am) and this pic was

taken from the FRONT (on a bike?) + notice in the mail and nothing further.

2. Frans Conradie Parow on the way to work on a Saturday morning.(August 2009)

Hidden camera ( behind a power box...legal?) but in the pic was

A) CAR   B) A LAMP POLE C) DUST BIN

Notice in the mail....no summons to date......

3. Table Bay Blvd Saturday  (also 2009 )am also early.....rear facing......again another vehicle in the pic......notice and no summons................

4. New Years day 2010...................N7........Moreesburg............stopped and issued with a summons immediately............forgot about it until a day before my court date .....called them and paid eft....confirmed ....

Moral of the story?

Unless you get the summons in person...............IGNORE!

I check (quite often ) the payfine site and there are no oustanding warrants or summons in my name......

Go Figure !

just pay the fine.

thank your lucky stars you are not in Australia... if they catch you doing that speed, hence more than double the speed limit you will loose your license and you will get locked up!

The fine values below are

The fine values below are outdated. They cost much more nowadays, be warned!

On a freeway with speed limit of 120 km/h fines start
at 131 km/h. Between 131 and 135 km/h the fine is R100, thereafter R100
for every 5km/h increase until 166 km/h, then it R200 for every 5 km/h until
180 km/h. Beyond 181 km/h there is no admission of guilt. The accused is
sent a notice to appear before a magistrate who will determine a fine or
jail sentence.

In urban areas the speed limit is 60 km/h, and a
fine of R100 is payable between 71 and 75 km/h. The amount payable increases
by a further R100 for every 5 km/h above 75 km/h until 120 km/h, at which
point there is no admission of guilt option and the driver will receive
notice to appear before a magistrate.

BMW Tops BrandZ

Thank you so much for further information. I gathered lots of information that I needed. Anyway, BMW took the number one spot on the BrandZ Top 100 list, surpassing Toyota. Well, that's a big success for them because they surpassed other big companies.

ODD POST

Hello GlaizaF, interesting post but odd place to put it!

I think the Top Brandz thing is about those 4 wheel contraptions with metal outside and meat inside, I wonder what the ratings are for the two wheel jobbies owned by people with a life Wink

Don't worry

I have banned that spamming marketing bieeaaaatch!  This is one of those SEO companies thinking they can improve their google rankings by pasting links to their website on other websites.  I was polite though - didn't use any of the words I learned in the Navy when telling her to go to hell.
