Home Page
Thanks for the "new look" home page, Charles. Much better!

Welcome, Upcoming Events, New Forum Topics, Recent Comments all appear neatly at the top of the left window now. Previously, they were spread downwards with lots of blank spaces, text over text, missing text, etc. First time I've seen it like this since I joined.
What's with the maths question?
Every day several spammers try to log onto our site and post their rubbish. The questions I have put at registration and login are designed to prevent machines from automatically registering and logging on - the problems are designed such that (most) humans can answer them easily while automated spambots cannot.
Even so, there seem to be some persistent idiots who do register by hand and post their nonsense, and I spend a lot of time keeping the site clean, and monitoring it for malware. Sometimes I get so frustrated I could commit murder.
The other change I have made is required every website registration to be approved manually by me. This means that new registrants may need to wait a few hours before being admitted to the site, if I happen to be away from my desk when they register. For each application, I check that their email address is reasonable, that they have a sensible user name (not dayodayo123 for e.g.), and that they haven't entered 'asdfasdf' as their bike model.
Compared to this, a little collaboration from legit website users seems a small price to pay...
Charles, thank you for the explanation, I also know your sense of humour, so I guess that some persistant spammer will in future get what it deserves.
"Every day several spammers try to log onto our site and post their rubbish."
Can't you leave it up for a day or so.
Your efforts are definitely appreciated, Charles. I'm sure I speak for all when I say "Thanks".
Charles I really don't think you have to go to so much trouble ... I heard on good authority that Julius Malema intends closing the internet because there are people out there who are using his name.
LOL, I'd be one of those people. You can follow me at www.twitter.com/real_malema
