Hi

I broke my mud guard brackets off on my last ride.

I did try using Pratley steel and yes I did follow the correct instructions. It did not hold

Is there a very good aluminium welder in the southern suburbs that I can approach

Regards

Leon

Hi

Don't fix them.

Remove the 'poop scoop' from the chain guard side by cutting it with a hacksaw.  There are lots of pics out there of how it was done.

It will just break at another place again. Just (Grind) mask and spray the broken areas so it looks neat. We ride way to much gravel for that thing to last.

O, by the way, it is not aluminium. it is normal mildsteel. Watch the electronics and bearings if you 'really' want to weld something back. Make sure the earth clamp is as close as possible (on the same metal) to where you must weld. I am WAAAY to bygelowig to just weld. prefer to remove the positive lead of the battery.

You can then fix it if you really want to just before you sell the bike. Dont know if it will have an effect on the value. Frown

Just my suggestion

Adie

That plastic mudgaurd thing is like an appendix.

You came out with one, I suppose it's nice to have, but it's not really neccesary. Laughing

I traded my Dakar in without it, it wasn't missed.

Protection

I am not replacing it but need to protect the ABS sensor and brake calibre. That is why I want to replace the nut fittings.

Thanks Adi for telling me that it is mild steel. I really thought it was aluminuim.
