I was so amped for last nights meeting, was even willing to miss Portugal vs Spain.

I have a thing for camping equipment and was dying to see what was available.

But alas I'm getting flu s it was straight to bed for me.

what did I miss?

what do I need to buy?

Bring four grand and meet me

Bring four grand and meet me outside Outdoor Warehouse in Bellville on Saturday morning at 09H00, I'll show you.Cool

I actually felt a little sorry for the Outdoor Warehouse guys, I think there was only about 40 people there last night. Not sure if it was soccer or weather, but hey, the free drinks and snacks all night helped us that did attend.Wink

Club Meeting

Hi !

Yeah I also so much wanted to attend the meeting but I have been struggling to get rid of my flue too!

Weather certainly put ideas into my head and I opted to do the right thing and stay indoors.

Soccer was on and I thought ok......I will watch it in bed!

Ha ha .......I dont think I saw even 20 minutes of the game!

Woke this morning to find out that the Porta' s LOST.....there sure have been some SURPRISE RESULTS in our World Cup !!!

i thought that might be the case, which is anoher reason I feel so bad about not being there. the weather and the soccer conspired against us

Our meetings need to be supported.

Does it have to be 9h00 in the morning? I'm not used to spending money in my sleep.

Free Drinks!!!

You bastards.  Nobody told me while I paid R10 for a tiny cup of coke and probably also dropped 50 ronts out my wallet by mistake...

The meeting was good, and the outdoor warehouse guys were on the ball.  No waffling, got straight to the point, gave prices, recommended good gear that was cost-effective.

Do you think Annie's minutes will contain descriptions of the outdoor warehouse stuff?

Annie was not there

Annie was not there either.......

Freezing cold and wet coupled with school holidays, flu and soccer I guess kept our faithful followers away.

I thought there was some really good gear from Outdoor Warehouse and I have invited them to display their goods again at a Club meeting.

feedback

Hiya Cloud - I was at the meeting, having visited O. W. just two weeks before, spending a very pleasant hour-and-a-half browsing, and picking up a spare accessory socket (they have a GOOD range of biker-friendly electric bits n bobs).

Basically they (O.W.) emphasized that bikers and backpackers both look for COMPACTNESS, thus they showed sleeping bags, sleeping mats, and tent(s) all lightweight, and very compact in size, etc.

4 inter-stacking cooking pots, that sort of thing. Geoff has said he will invite them back again post World Cup, when numbers likely to be better!

Cheers

Flu

Seeing that this thread has people talking about their Flu..... I too was struck down on Sunday, unable to rest and take it easy I am sicker today, rather than better!  Resting pulse rate, all time high of 75!! (When fit I can get resting HR down as low as 43)

And to top the story off as the all time winner of these sorry tales, I had to put down my horse's old stable mate on Wednesday morning.  To put this into context, the two of them have been together for about 15 years and he was about 27 years old, so yes passed his expiry date but still a really sad day.

Cry

Glad to here I will get another oppurtunity to check out what to spend my money on at a future meeting, thanks Geoff.
