BMWMCC Cape GS Overnight Mystery off Road Ride 21/22 January - Thanks for the pics added Pam.
We are planning an overnight ride to a mystery location for the weekend of 21-22 January 2012. Warren and Natalie Ellwood will be your hosts for this weekend visit to another brand new venue for the BMW Club. In due time, a few clues will be given out and there will be a small something for the first person that can guess where we are going. The “up” ride will be around 280km.
The venue, set right on the bank of a river in a most beautiful valley right next to a well known mountain range, (sound familiar so far) offers camping accommodation only, with basic ablutions consisting of two flush toilets and hot showers. The campsite falls away into the river which has many deep pools for swimming, and if you could get a canoe on your bike you would have enough place to use it as there is a large stretch of navigable river in front of the camp, but luckily no hippo’s or crocodiles I am told. You can bring your fishing pole though.
For food, you will “do it yourself” on Saturday, biker type snacks for lunch, something to burn on Saturday night and for breakfast on Sunday, bring R65.00 and a tip along as you will be taken for a full sit down breakfast at a delightful top class eatery not too far away.
After breakfast on Sunday we will follow an unusual (from here) route to bring us home, stopping somewhere along the way for lunch depending on how the groups feels. The ride home will be about 325 km.
For beverages we will arrange an honesty cash bar of the basics like cool drinks, beers and ciders and ice. Hard tack, wine etc you’ll need to bring yourself.
The ride will be accompanied by a back up vehicle and trailer as usual for peace of mind and to carry your goodies if need be.
The costs are as follows:
R190.00 per person which includes your camping accommodation and a contribution to the back-up vehicle expenses. Non members are welcome but paid up club members will receive preference.
So who wants to start 2012 with a nice, easy, very laid back ride to a stunning location for a bit of back at work R&R. The ride will suit riders of all skill levels.
Interested in joining us? Please post to this thread and drop me a mail at warrene@savino.co.za so I know who you are and I will be in contact. We need to limit the ride to around 25 folks.

When visiting our destination campsite one would be forgiven for wondering if the name is legal as such a fuss is made of it elsewhere in the world, since the 5th century in fact. There are so many rules around this it creates many grey areas with a ton of literature on the subject.
Isle of Skye - Tankwa Karoo. WHISKEY
Kaffir Kop - just off the R355.
or Port somewhere or other...
So what do Wimbledon and early French Kings have in common? They play tennis everywhere in the world don’t they, but that’s not quite it…………………………...
Champagne is a fruit farm on the banks of the Zonderend River.
Tony, do you mean "Hessequas Guest Farm"?
So if you've got nothing on this coming weekend, and want to join us, please contact me.
Weather looking good so far as well.
Well those mountains are East of Cape Town. The river is not the Breede, too narrow.

I'm convinced this clue has something to do with that Whiskey ad that was shot in the same town....grey....with tons of fun! and a nice Posthouse!
Give that man a Bell's!
