A khoi khoi place not to stay!

So we are on our annual family bike trip around south africa and this year due to my sister graduating, my folks have come down from the eastern cape to do the western cape. After the lovely sutherland trip this year I recommended it as one of the stops. My mother phoned tourism info and as we were a big group, they recommended khoi khoi guest house as the place to go. BIG MISTAKE! We arrived on monday after having a mammoth day leaving langebaan, crossing some of the cedarburg, reaching ceres, leaving a bike in the middle of the onder karoo with problems to be greeted by a very drunk hostess and her equally drunk, semi naked toyboy. They proceeded to direct us to park our bike at the back of the property that was coated wall to wall in dog crap. Not the greatest first impretion. Non the less, we were tired and just wanted to light a fire and have a beer so headed through to the house, which in all honestly was a dormitory at most. And an expensive one at that! And that was when we started finding the filth! Trying to make a quick cup of tea found a cup that had been put away with a tea bag growing mouldy in it, a glass was found coated in greasy finger prints. All little things that started becoming very annoying. Anyway it all became to much so we decided that we would look for alternative accomodation for the next night. So next morning, we explained the situation to the still drunk owners, and left to pick up the abandoned bike in a borrowed truck leaving the ladies to sort out the new accommodation. Unfortunately we had left the bikes still in the back yard. While the ladies were packing up, the drunk man came over, this time with a shirt on, and asked my mother, "so what was the problem " She explained again about dirt and poor standards etc so he just mumbled something and said we must pay for the 2nd might since we booked it. Not a chance was our reply, so he said fine, he would hold our bikes as ransom!! The ladies said no more, immediately packed everything into the tiny rental car we had as back up, and went to the police. To cut a very long story short that involved police raiding the house, drunk idiot trying to assault two of us in front of the police , the same drunk idiot pushing over one of the bikes, he was finally arrested. So please be warned and dont have a repeat of our experience at khoi khoi in sutherland!

Thanks for the warning
Thanks for the warning Steve. On the bright side, their business can only go down after this episode and its publication on our site (word of mouth is very powerful), '''and''' you have something to remember your holiday by. I've noticed that I remember trips and places by the drama around them: that's where xyz fell, those people let us store the broken bike, remember how it rained there etc etc? Steve most of the B&B's in
Steve most of the B&B's in Sutherland are not run by the owners. Chances are you had a bad experience with a manager that needs a new line of work ..... (It would be a truly sad day when an owner behaves like that)

I had thought the same but
I had thought the same but after speaking to the owner of our relief accommodation he said they were the owner and had been for a while. According to the police, we are not the first group to have had problems....
