ok dumb (unusual questions)
is a leather seat better?
do multi colour seats work..
I've been offered the possibility of having a "striped" seat made. It would comprise different pieces of whatever material sewn together..
I've seen two part (red / grey) seats - like the 1150GS.. now the possibility of black / white, maybe more pieces..
now, the consensus seems to be that leather would be stronger/ durable..
has anybody any experience is this?
Would leather work in a bush / wet occasionally situation?
Would such a seat come apart after a shorter amount of time?
Is this just a really dumb idea?

Leather can work, but will
Leather can work, but will take in water, but you can make an elasticized cover much like those shower caps.
It is looking GOOD!!!

I do think you ought to get
I do think you ought to get a pink riding jacket to go with the new look bike, and don't forget to stripe the helmet.
Don't laugh at the pink jacket it will go well with black and white and be a lot safer if you ride through a nature reserve with zebra in, some stallion could take a fancy to you!:-)

How about a zebra skin for
How about a zebra skin for the seat??? Apparently they come ready made with black and white stripes.
Could also get a white sheep skin for maximum comfort in the saddle and die it with black stripes!!!

I had a two-coloured seat
I had a two-coloured seat made for one of my 1200GS's.
We used a nice fabric in black for the seat area and did grey panels for the sides.
This was done in a high-density fabric designed to be outside and for use in marine and outdoor applications.
Over a year now and the seat is still like new. Personally, I would not go the leather route, as the weathering of leather over time will mean a hard leather which will start looking a bit tatty.

ah Mr T, your humour doth amaze me.. :)
funny you should mention it: I have had this very experience, tho on a previous black bike I had.
Was riding in the Northern cape past a farm down (believe it or not), a twee spoor with very thick sand (!!!) and chanced upon a very black male ostrich with bright pink legs..
He obviously (being young and naive, a bit like nom de plume Mr T) thought the rider/bike combination looked like a tasty bit of what have you..
I had had sand issues getting there, but had absolutely no issues either turning nor leaving the area!
Since only 5 strands of barbed wire separated the amorous beast from myself, I added a bit of Stand up, look up, and lets get the .. out of here, and you know, that pesky pigeon kept up with me for several kilometers, at quite a pace!
(of course you know that North Cape fences have nowhere else to go but extremely straight for kilometers on end, with the road right next to it all the way?)
no pink jacket required, trusty dirty grey will have to do. The only nature reserve I ever rode through was near Patterson in East Cape, and the sign on the road said "Beware of Lions" [very comforting!].
