As the ride was cancelled after Etha and I were already preparing to go we decided to go anyway. Windguru and www.yr.no both promised good weather from Melkbos to Greyton, including the sometimes fickle Franschhoek. We stopped in at the Engen Garage and found Deon, Eric, Mike and Willie ready to go, totally unaware that Max had cancelled. Mike comment "What bad weather, I've got a bike with a full tank so let's go. So at 07:40 we daparted and what a great ride.

Andyman's picture

The Greyton relaxed ride on Sunday 17th July 2011 will be well remembered for its fantastic vistas on the route, verdant greens in many many differing hues, lots of sheep and cows, often in the road, and for 8 pillions.

Yes, 24 bikes, 30% carried pillions.

I do believe this is a first.

And then there were the newer riders.

BMW MCC Intermediate GS ride (with pics): Overberg area

Geoff would be a brilliant fisherman. Imaging him casting the lure: ''Join the Club on this intermediate level GS Off Road ride in the lovely Overberg area on Sunday 22nd November.'' Turn left at the third bushTurn left at the third bush He had 19 takers, two being clever enough to ride pillion. (Neels and Annamarie piloted the back-up vehicle.) From the Engen on the N2 near Somerset West, we vroomed up Sir Lowrys Pass, turning right onto the Highlands road just after the Peregrine Farmstall.
