Julie hates passes. Especially dirty ones. Somehow I had to get her over a few before she realises what is happening, so that I can prove that they are nothing to fear.
We have been looking forward to the BMW Bike Fest 2011 since the end of the inaugural Bike Fest last year. Finally, it arrived and we set off on a leisurely ride to Montagu for an overnight stop, with some dirt roads thrown in for fun.
Mini-trip - Swartberg pass
Last weekend, whilst idling my time away at the Buff, I had a choice... spend the day watching loads of people drink, get drunk, make idiots of themselves and bugger up their bikes, or disappear into the wild blue yonder and go adventuring. The latter won out.

BMW MCC Oudtshoorn outride - road ride 20 - 21 Feb '10Just after a gorgeous, windless sunrise, 8 bikes (with 3 lady pillions) gathered at Plattekloof Engen. My first glimpse of our fellow riders was Neil, sitting atop a pile of braaiwood bags, reading the Saturday paper, seemingly oblivious to the world.
After a quick rider briefing, we set off down the N1 in blinding sunlight, diverting off at the R300, dodging taxis and concrete barriers, then onto the N2. We turned off the N2 at the Firlands turn-off for Gordon's Bay.
