Oudtshoorn 20/21 Feb 2010 from another view
A very nice report from Chrissie Le Roux on their ride in Andy's group. You can imagine where this report will end up, so I hope you were all on your best behaviour!
BMW MCC Oudtshoorn outride - road ride 20 - 21 Feb '10
Just after a gorgeous, windless sunrise, 8 bikes (with 3 lady pillions) gathered at Plattekloof Engen. My first glimpse of our fellow riders was Neil, sitting atop a pile of braaiwood bags, reading the Saturday paper, seemingly oblivious to the world.
After a quick rider briefing, we set off down the N1 in blinding sunlight, diverting off at the R300, dodging taxis and concrete barriers, then onto the N2. We turned off the N2 at the Firlands turn-off for Gordon's Bay.
Dual ride to Prince Albert/Oudtshoorn
2010, Another year, another great weekend outing with YOUR Club : Come and join the fun, 3 rides to choose from, bring your partner with you!!!!
Numbers are limited...........snooze you............you know what..
So many rides so little time............
In order to get 2010 off to a great start, Andy, Anne, Brian and I are arranging a "Dual" ride to Prince Albert over the weekend of 20th to 21st February 2010 sleeping in Oudtshoorn. The plan was to stay in Prince Albert however good value accommodation for a large group is not easy to find in this quaint little town.
Brian's Messengers group will obviously be a "road" ride, Anne & Andy Connell have offered to take the "off road" beginners group and I will take the more experienced "dirties" group.

All Passes Tour
The format of this ride is to do as many mountain passes as we can fit in over one weekend with each group doing there own route. Breakfast and lunch will be enjoyed on route.
We all eat at the same restaurant in Oudtshoorn.
Please note that there will be 2 groups and possibly even 3. The groups will be as follows :
Group 1 led by Brian : The "sedate" group.
Group 2 led by Geoff : The less sedate, slightly faster group.
Possible group 3 depending on demand, led by Anne Connell (to be confirmed) : The beginners/novice riders with less passes to cover and the slowest group.
A
George Car Show 'via' Tradouw Pass
The annual George car show took place over the last weekend of January and I went down by bike to see the show, visit friends and ride the Tradouw pass, a Thomas Bain pass that I had heard so much about, but which I had never seen. Fluids and tyre pressures are all checked the day before, but not the fuel tank since it was still pretty full. Since I was riding alone, I could fill up whenever I needed and use the chance to stretch the legs.
1. An early start
I get an early start and head out of Kleinmond at first light. Cool air, not a breath of wind and just the occasional car, prima! By the time I get past Caledon, the sun is up but the air stays cool, the road stays quiet and the wind stays away.
