Middelpos tragedy
My mate André and I took a trip on Friday through the Bidouw valley to Calvinia (and made it through the Doring river!). Slept over and hit the road to Tankwa via Middelpos on Saturday. We met up with 3 bikers (Dad and his 2 sons) at Middelpos and had a good laugh and some bike-chat. They and 3 other friends in a 4x4 had a boy's weekend away of camping and just to celebrate life. They left and we were 5 minutes behind them on the road to Ganaga pass. 15 Km's out of Middelpos the father went off the road. (a Yamaha 660) It happend at a bend in the road and just through a motor gate. Only my cellphone reception to call for help, but unfortunately the rider passed away on the scene due to a neck injury. He did wear a neck brace.
My heart goes out to the Nel family and pray for them through this difficult time.
RIP.
Condolences to family and friends.
My condolences.
Condolences to the Nel family.
Thanks Herman,
What a sad loss my thoughts and prayers for the surviving Nel family.
Having also spent a weekend in that area it makes one so aware of easy this happens.
The question is "Are you ready if it happens to you?"
I am....
RIP. Condolences to the family.
RIP and condolences to the family. This is always a bad thing but even worse at this time of year.
I know it's a sensitive subject but do you perhaps have any more information on what exactly happened?
Did he wear a Leatt brace or some other brace? I know a neck brace is no guarantee but I’m interested to know how he suffered a neck injury with a brace on? Is it wrong of me to ask this question now? Sorry.
I feel very sad that his two sons had to experience this… it will probably put them off adventure riding forever.
RIP and condolences to the loved ones, especially his 2 sons.
RIP. My thoughts are with all, whoever they may be.
It can happen so fast......
Condolences to family and friends.
