Mr Badger's twin is mine.
Time for something more suited to my unpetite physique.
After much fun and some very interesting places travelled I have decided that it's time to look at a bike that will handle the longer rides better and is more pillion friendly.
So if all goes as planed I will be the happy owner of a 04 R1150GS that I pray will give me as much pleasure as Charles's Mr Badger.

awesome.
hope you have many happy and safe miles on it.
Well done, EXCELLENT choice. IMO definitly the prettiest bike from BMW!
Well done Charl...when can i pop round and come take a look
Regards
Wayne
It's the one that wears a Western Province jersey.
Congrats Charl - excellent choice and the Biketique guys are great to work with too. That bike looks stunning - now you just need to get it up to 130 000 km and then we can talk

Maybe next Saturday morning on our way to Middelpos (Charles thinks I need to double the mileage ASAP.)
Looks like with all the red tape I will only be getting it early next week.
That is one seriously nice bike - I am almost envious!
Woohoooo ...Wishing you many happy Kms Bud
Beautifull !
Last year I read the book DIE BIKE BOEK and realised that I am a sleeper and needed to get back on a bike after 25 years off. I did a lot of reading and as I have always been a BMW fan it was a question of which one. Being 61 years old and not so fris anymore I was wary of the weight of an 1150 GS. The 1200 was out of my reach so I was looking at the 650 Dakar . The 800GS mad a lot of sense but again was too expensive for me even 2nd hand. Then a friend persuaded me to look at Honda Trans Alp and it made sense to me. Price/ weight/ability . One day before I made a purchase ( Honda )I passed through Malmesbury and in the main road on the sidewalk there was this blue and white 1150 GS for sale. It had a lot of wear and tear and high mileage and the engine was overhauled so that particular bike was out of the question for me but the sight of that blue and white 1150 GS bike sold me on a 1150 GS.
Now I have a 2004 Yellow 1150 GS with only 30 000 on the clock. And very very happy.
I say thank you to that blue and white 1150 GS !
Hey Wayne
If you are as good a broker as you are a photographer the business must be good..!

Next time I will remember to "pickle a toad and stand on your head" when I can't get something right here.
Got mine last Friday. Went offroad in Stellenbosch mountains on Sat am and was quite apprehensive. Higher seat than the Dakar and heavy! But man can it handle! I was amazed at how controlled everything is on that bike - love it!
Then Andy got hold of it and improved it even more and gave me lots of tips (and he had cold beer). I bought my Dakar as a result of his influence and now the 1150GSA. Thanks Andy!
The only negative was the surge at low revs. Not a very smooth ride, especially if you're in too high a gear. Mine has a Leo Vince exhaust which has probably changed the engine dynamics. I removed the code plug and now it's smoooth!
Definitely a good buy.
