My Zumo 500 GPS died!!!
During our recent Transkei Tour my "old faithful" Zumo 500 up and died on me. Thank goodness we had a GPS (Zumo 400) in the back up vehicle that I was able to use as they use the same bracket.
The touch screen would no longer work. It happened suddenly and without warning.
Avnic have just informed me that it is irreparable and have kindly offered me a new Zumo 660 for under R2k. This appears to be a great deal and the service was also very professional, as always.
It took me 5 years to sort of learn to work the old one............I am dreading the next 5!!
I think you've just scored.
I like the 660.
wide screen.
headphone jack on the unit itself and not the cradle - means you can use it for music when not on the bike.
The connectors are on the back of the unit and not the bottom, so less likely to have issues with the cradle short-circuiting when wet.
I think the features and functions are exactly the same, so there's nothing new to learn.
Time to move on Geoff. You'll not have much problem as the transfers from laptop are the same, and the touch screen is quick toget used to.
Thanks Guys,
Avnic have offered me a free crash course in "how to move with the times" and they recon the changes should not be any problem.
I hope not!
Well Geoff if you not happy with the 660 I have a 550 with latest s/w and maps... hardly used including box and accesorries etc.....which we could always swop
