Jan du Toit is currently busy with a charity ride for the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

They will be riding from Franschhoek to Khayelitsha on Sunday morning and asked us to get 15 to 20 bikes together to join them.

We will be leaving from the Engen one stop on the N1 at 8.00 sharp on Sunday morning to join them in Franschoek. You can also join us in Franschoek at 8.30 in front of the church in the main road. Please don't be late.

I am not sure what the program is, but you will be finished around 11.00.

Please let me know if you are interested asap. I need to know by Friday 16th at 13.00. (It looks like you will have nice weather for the ride.)

Hi everyone,Just a "heads up"

Hi everyone,

Just a "heads up" ....this coming weekend is Bastille Festival in Franschhoek, if you have not been before please be warned that it can be very busy; especially the main road.

The festival is over both Sat & Sun, please take care. It should not be too bad as you are leaving early and the main activities start from just after 9am.

Regards

Johan de Jager

I will be there

This sounds like the ride that has been on the news, with Jeremy Mansfield, Morgan Freeman, and many other celebrities.  While I don't care about celebrities much, Mr.Badger is a real media-whore and is dragging me out to this event Wink.

Anyway, got to contribute my 67 minutes to the community - and if I can do it on a bike with people I know so much the better.  Thanks for contacting us Liza!

JdJ perhaps you should warn the Franschoekers and visitors that Mr.Badger will be in town and they should stay home and keep the children inside Smile

Count me in

I don't see how this contributes to the 67 minutes of charity, but if it counts then what a better way to do it....? See you there.

PS Should'nt we bring something like blankets and stuff??

No need

The charities that the bikers represent are bringing trucks and who-knows-what.  They just want some bikes to swell the ranks of the participating riders and make it more newsworthy I suppose.  Also, I'm sure the kids in the township will appreciate the spectacle.
