OUTREACH WILD COAST 2008 Led into the Dwesa Nature Reserve by Geoff Russell and his merry men and women to do a deed that I think was quite special and needs to be mentioned as one story with in another. This good will deed made Giz,I and I'm certain all the others in our group to experience that nice fuzzy feeling inside your tummy when you do something good for your fellow mankind. At the initial briefing at Geoff's home he informed us that the last time he was in the Dwesa Nature Reserve he was guided through the nature reserve by a delightful young local man who was dressed in civilian clothes. It was then and there that Geoff decided to do the following. True to his decision many months ago on the 3rd of August 2008 the Great African Wild Coast 2008 adventurers bore witness to OUR leader Geoff handing over, not one, but two of the most beautiful heavy duty, Khaki and Green button up shirts with pockets and a collar, a green and Khaki hat and Khaki pants to the young local man. Andy's assures me his name is Vuyani Jamce and his obvious delight and unbridled joy at the recognition has fueled him up for another ten years. (I quote Andy-man) The delight on this young mans face says it all.The delight on this young mans face says it all. We were so proud of Geoff and certainly we were proud to belong to such an esteemed group of guys on motor bikes. I must add at this point the quads and other two wheel bikes that went past our group like berserk animals on more than one occasion left NO respect and curtasy for anyone. Respect and curtasy is the foundation of the Xhosa culture! You know when in Rome ...... Embroidered on the hat in bold green letters saying NATURE GUIDE. On his green and Khaki shirt it had his personal XHOSA NAME and his TITLE neatly embroidered on it. The young man was besides himself and could not stop thanking us. Check out the picture. This was certainly a nice touch and my privalage to be part of the groupThis was certainly a nice touch and my privalage to be part of the group After the presentation he jumped on the back of Geoff's bike, grinning widely from ear to ear, then realising the wind would blow his hat off he quickly turned it around. Hows the happy face on the back of Geoffs Bike???Hows the happy face on the back of Geoffs Bike??? I must say that good deeds and good will to all man kind certainly makes the hardships of riding these big bikes easier and much, much more bearable. (tongue in cheek) On the point of goodwill, Geoff said,"wave to the locals". The problem was that he never said how many people there are in the Transkei. Needless to say my arm was "sat". Nice touch guys, let's make the effort to make a difference in OUR beautiful country.

Agreed, it was a wonderful privilege to be part of this presentation. His name is Vuyani, and his obvious delight and unbridled joy at the recognition has fueled him up for another ten years. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

Hi and thanks Andy... I took the liberty of adding your comments to the article. God willing this trip is a must for us next year. We'll just have to convince GR???? Rusty in the eye of adventure.
