Power socket
Hi
Has anyone ever attempted to put a power socket onto a F650? I'm keen to do so (compressor), but very scared of burning out wires and batteries. Any advice on such much appreciated.

I just ran a wire directly to the battery and bypassed all the other stuff. However, Brenda is a Funduro and has no electronics to interfere. But in principle, no matter the bike, if you connect directly to the battery (with a suitably large inline fuse), the bike will be none the wiser.
your bike already has a socket just in case you didn't know.
The bike is a 2000 model... no socket I'm afraid, unless it's really well hidden??
ah! it does have several light bulb sockets, but that's just too much of a schlep taking them out, then trying to find the compressor lead and the tyre in the dark.. <grin>
@Charles - thanks for that advice. What constitutes a suitable fuse? 20AMP?
20 Amp is good. The Red fuse I think!
Hi Mr Stripes,
I have installed one on my F650GS 2001. It is a Powerlet one which I got from Advrider. It is a tad on the expensive side but comes with everything you need. Just mount it where you want it and connect to the battery. Has a inline fuse with it. It is good quality and is very neat. I mounted mine on the dashboard below and to the left of the clocks (black plastic bit). I have had no problems with it. If I use it I leave the bike running. Have only used it with my compressor. Had it for a year and not rusting etc. Has a nice cap over the socket too.
