Members who ride a 1200 Adventure
I have been riding bikes from before I was 16. I started riding on an agricultural Honda 90 and then moved on, when 16 and licenced, to a Yamaha MR50. Next was a Honda 350/4 which was an amazing machine and I stupidly sold it for a Ducati 860GT. Ducati in those days, as I found out, had not much reliability but when it went...it went. As I was communting to work I needed something reliable and sold the 860 for a Honda CX500. Shaft drive and water cooled it was an amazing machine and I road it happily for many, many years. After a sebatical of a few years from riding bikes the need for speed and a new bike became too much. So I bought a 1150GS and this started my allure with the new generation of Beemers. I have had eleven and presently own three: a GSA1200, K1200LT and, recently acquired, a 800GS.
I'm Andre Ferreira, married to Mariette. We have two kids and love the outdoors and camping. We have been ridingsince 2009 after being introduced to offroad riding in June 2009 by my friend Russell Rathbone. The intro was expensive as two months later I bought an Adventure and love every minute. Since then my bike and I have come to understand each othe r better and now and then - too few times for my liking, we take the less travled routes of the Western Cape and play araound a bit. Recently I discovered that sand riding needs a bit of a mind shift to conquer and not to think too much - well, it seesm as of faster is sometimes better than slower if you can get your head around it.
