Recently moved to a 1200GS after a few years learning on a Dakar. Never thought I'd be able to handle the extra weight, but so far so good! My favourite riding is on a good dirt road far away from anywhere.
Married, children out of house, self employed, have been biking as far back as i can remember but very little off road experience. Have done beginners off road trip with Andy pass Caledon which was very informative and trip with Jeremy to Barrydale for lunch. My brother also joined us on this trip and we both enjoyed the company
Hi I am Pierre Coetzer. I am riding my 1200 GS to work and back everyday. And I love every moment of it!
Hi, Andre and Wendy Reyneke, we recently joined the club and have been on two of the rides organised by Andy Connell which were excellent. I’ve been riding since 1973, road bikes, only having recently bought a 1200GS in order to enjoy the benefits of being able to travel on dirt roads. This makes me a novice regarding dirt so I’m keen to learn as much of this skill as possible. I’ve done both the BMW intro to off-road riding and the intermediate courses with Chris Hamman. We are now spending as much time as possible riding on dirt roads, trying to build up the necessary skills to safely enjoy this sport. We decided to join the club in order to increase our skills in a safer environment whilst socialising with like-minded people.

my name is Stephen Drew, am 50 years old and live in Knysna with my my wife Olga and our two labbrador dogs.Have two grown up kids, the one being the Etv weather man.Am also a very keen mountain biker.Went through the XT era and owned and road such bikes in my youth. then bought a 1200gs in Dec 2005.Had great dreams of traveling through Africa. Got sick thereafter which has damaged my balance nerve and could not ride my bike for over two years. have since taught myself to balance and have been on a Namibian off road trip and a shorter one to the Northen Cape. Were there a will , theres a way. it also helps to ride a gs.
I have lived in Plettenberg Bay for 25 years stopped riding in the late 70's at the time riding a 750 Ducati. The bug bit again four years ago and bought a Susuki VZ 800. I traded the cruser in on a 2008 1200 GS on Friday 18 June and as you can emagin I am over the moon. My wife's name is Toy Black and she is going to join me in riding as often as possible.

Hi, I am 48 years old. Married with 3 boys. Having had a lay off of over 25 years from motorbiking, , I bought a new 800 GS. After a few club rides and tours, one thing lead to another and I now own a 1200 GS. Riding my BMW bike gives me great "me time" and I love it.
