Alvin Kushner. In the past my wife, Merril and I spent most of our recreational life in Yacht clubs and at sea. Our last boat was a 37ft Catamaran which we sold about 9 years ago as the work pressure of our tour operation no longer allowed us enough time to sail. Four years ago I bought my first commuter bike, a cool but ridiculously too small for me Yamaha BWS scooter to beat the local traffic but eventually replaced it with a new Vespa GT 200 cc which I still use for local commuting. During mid 2007 at the age of 65 I finally bought my most prized possession and probably the first object that I've owned that I find hard to fault, a brand new Sand Beige (What a horible name for a colour) BMW R1200 RT. I've already logged up 40,000 (June,2010) of enjoyable and exciting Sunday breakfast riding with wonderful companionship and I look forward to taking my bike out for a run at every oportunity that I get. About a year ago I discovered the pleasures of loading a small tent, inflatable mattress, sleeping bag, gas stove, pots'n pans etc onto the bike and spending the odd night out. Pity my wife wont ride with me. (She refuses to travel with anyone who steers right when he wants to go left.)
