Used my real name. Am a "ROF" retired old fart. Spent 39 years in the computer industry before retiring and taking up painting "fine art". Travel quite a bit on the bike (32,000 Km in the last 2 years)taking photographs of scenes to paint besides just having a blast doing what I enjoy.

Hi! I'm a farmer from Paarl. I got my first bike when I was 10, but for the past 10 years I've been on a quad bike. I've been back on two wheels for about 3 months.
I live in Northern suburbs. done some trips to Namibia, swartberg, karoo etc.try to ride as often as possible
howD have put about 12,000 Ks on my GS in three years. about half that was on one trip - with way too much tar. Am on my first set of knobly tyres ever. Not experienced off road. Not interested in tar. off road skill level = modest but not awful. would be very keen to join a 7 or so day ride into, say, lower Namibia from CT. Am slow to see the point of riding on the road - but very happy to go with the group plan. Not too proud to drive through the night to trailer bike(s) to border/interesting dirt. Am involved in economic development and way keen to experience and learn about life in neighbouring countries. I have a great sense of humour but I don't make a big deal about it - friends and family still unaware. etc and more etc
GS1200 - Why did I not buy one a long time ago
Male 52 years old. Engineer. Ride every day and over weekends with my wife. She has a GS650. Enjoy riding and the lifestyle. Always Attempt to stay within the speed limit.
HowD just getting into the gravelly stuff for the first time. tar doesn't work for me. shawnE
Finally i own a GS1200 and need to look no further. Eager to explore and enjoy the tar and gravel roads of SA, for weekend and the odd long adventure rides.

My naam Carien de Jager, ek is die pillion op 'n GS1200 en die eienaar van 'n Harley Sportster 1200 Custom. Ek werk as Korporatiewe Oudioloog. Die GS is 'n wonderlike vreemde ondervinding wat die adrenalien sterk laat pomp en dit dan afwissel met asemrowende natuurskoon.
