Riders years of experience
Name's John, just started riding, and really loving it. Originally wanted to start with something small like a Dakar, but things turned out differently and went straight for a GS.
Using it as a sunny weather commute bike, but once I more sure footed, looking to explore some gravel and possible neighboring countries, however, I'd like to explore SA more first!
As for the rest, keen photographer and outdoor enthusiast, camping, hiking, MTBing. Would rather rough it, than stay in luxury accommodation.
I'm back to biking after 30 years. This time however it is with respect and restraint as well as a pillion. We enjoy rediscovering the hidden valleys only reachable by gravel roads. It is the ride to these valleys that is becoming addictive.
I was one of those lucky enough to be have motorcycles when I was young, eventually taking part in moto X, enduro's and even a few months on a RD350 trying my hand at road racing. When I went to the army in 87, that was it, no more bikes until 2006 when I decided to buy 2 x TW200's to get back into biking.
These soon turned into BMW650's and since then, my wife Natalie and I are having loads of fun exploring while all the time honing forgotten skills.
We don't have any kids (quite a few animals) and so are able to trip off for a weekend just about when ever we feel like it.
We love the outdoors, and spend quite a bit of time in the country, either biking, 4x4ing or even just camping. The more remote the better.
I am an avid mountain biker and decided to try adventure riding.Bought my first bike ever F800GS at the age of 47, now i cant get enough.Have been happily married for 20 years to Sian Versfeld and we have a beautiful daughter, Megan who is 19 years of age.
I own a video production company called Libra Vision Studios.Life can be stressful at times and therefore i use the mountain biking and adventure riding to keep the balance.
Sian and myself are planning to enjoy the great outdoors for many years to come.
Hi, I am 47 years old. Married with 3 boys. Having had a lay off of over 25 years from motorbiking, , I rode Pillion on the Beginners Dirt Ride in the pouring rain with Andyman in August 2010 (see trip report). One thing lead to another and I now own a new 800 GS. Riding my BMW bike gives me great "me time" and I love it.Trevor
I am 40 years old, married without children.
I had a BMW 650 dakar until November 2008> I bought a 650 GS this year.
Like to do rides with my wife.
I am the sales executive for Hamman Motorrad and have grown very fond off the brand over the last 9 months of my employment. As with many guys my age I perceived BMW as an "Old Toppies" bike, but after experiencing the brand and its followers i soon came to relies that I am involved with an adventuress, exciting and Youthful product. BMW for life.
Hi. The name is Christiaan, Afrikaans speaking, married with 2 kids.
Love my Dakar and am convinced it is the most perfect all-purpose motorcycle out there....
Black-top to gravel, The Hell to Baviaans to the technical rough and loose stuff.... It's GREAT.
I am 47 years of age, married with children and live in Riversdal in the Southern Cape. I am still a beginner rider with some gravel experience. My name is Marius.
