As anyone who comes to a club meeting knows Annie owns a Sony VPL-EX70 data projector.

Well the lamp's 4 000 hours are up and it is time to replace the pamp.

For techies its a Sony LMP-E191.

a quick Internet trawl yioelds scandalous results.

The vendors want 2815 Rond for a new lamp.

That's tein thousands with eight hundred and fifteen added to them.

Now I'm sure that amongst the lurkers and readers and members of this forum someone out there in the ether will have a fishing rod for me and can direct me to a vendor who can do a better price on projector lamps.

Now I press, 'SAVE"  to post this message,

sit back and before noon tomorrow, I'll have a range of clever options.

Thanks in advance.....

Projector Lamp prices are

Projector Lamp prices are just ridiculous, but here are your options:

1. Sell the current projector on "Gomboom" and buy a new one. (should cost about what the lamp does)

2. Find a good friend with the same projector, and swop lamps while he isn't looking. (has to be a good friend, otherwise its stealing)

3. Insure the projector, and then let it "accidentally" fall in sea water, then claim. (its your projector, you can take it anywhere, even on long walks on the beach)

4. Paint the projector a neon green and use it as a conversational piece in your house for about two months, then go and hide it and make a pie chart about who asks about it, who don't notice, who uses the bathroom more and who drinks more beer.....it won't help with the lamp, but will fill those uncomfortable silences nicely.

5. Go buy a LED lamp model, their lifespan is about 30000 hrs, but they have low lumen output, so you have to use in darker environments, test first.

or try your luck with these:

Try Superiorvision -

Try Superiorvision - www.superiorvision.co.za. They have a Cape Town office and lamps for most projectors. Sounds like the average price is R1500.
