Show of hands, road ride training
Similar to the all bike training and fun day, would there be any interest in doing a road ride training event.
The biggest problem would be a suitable venue but before i worry about that what kind of interest would there be.
Cheers
Max
Interested, but does this exclude GS riders, Max?

If you ride your GS on tar, then the training will be good for you. For the same reason, when I do a track day on my GS, it is with the same knobblies I normally ride with.
I am interested

Hi Max , am interested , regards H
Me too
All bike types are welcome, however where are the road bike riders - are there any left in the club
Venue, would you prefer on-the-road, assuming we can find a safe section of public road, or parking lot training. Although the track is the ideal environment, getting access to the track is very expensive and without the right "connections" literally impossible. I'm not connected
Interested.
Hi Max, I'm also interested and would like to include Elsa as pillions need as much training as we do.
May I suggest involving the BMW retailers to help with the right "connections"…I no Dave Higgs has organised a track day coming soon.
Hi Max, I am interested and would come with a pillion as well. Would prefer to ride on a track. We do however have many passes and training, I suppose, can also happen at road legal speeds?
MartinD and Annine
The track is great, but expensive and time is limited there. Also, many dealers have track days that you can participate in, with experienced and helpful instructors. This is something every rider should do at least once, if not once a year.
However, Max may be offering something a little bit different. An opportunity to practise some skills in a structured environment but in your own time. The question is, where? A big empty parking lot is one option, probably in an industrial area where things are quiet over the weekend.
Possibly another is to have a bit of an outride to a remote piece of road that is little-used. Or even a remote airfield? You could plan the route to include some passes where an opportunity for instruction and practise exists. Maybe a member works at or knows of a loading zone or factory yard that is paved and empty over the weekend?
Just my thoughts.
Hi
Have you considered Youngsfield military base. Nice long strip for straight line training and then there is a nice "round " area on the side for cone practice. It is open most of the time during the day.
Leon
I would like to attend if arranged
Interested
Hi Max
Wingfield maybe?
Yes I am interested. Track days as well.
I'm interested - would like to bring my wife so we can learn and be more comfortable as a pair.
Hi Max, I'm also interested. I'm sure we can find a nice stretch of suitable road somewhere.
Ek stel belang, dankie!

I'm interested. Still pretty much a beginner but very much interested.
Thanks
Charlotte
Conrad and I would be interested!!
Max, talk to GoGirl (Debbie) on the Wild Dogs forum. She's the OC at Youngsfield, rides a 990, and will be very keen to assist and participate I'm sure.
Now were talking...sounds like a great contact Max.
I'm in - and I don't have a GS!
Count me in !!!!
- Sun 17 April - Motorlease BMW track day - Killarney
- Max - YOU now have a connection!
- Call Ray Wilson regarding this exclusive BMW Day at Killarney-Bike time available!
Over and above the track event, is there any interest in an on-the-road training event. I still believe the track is the best place to learn but the road could also offer additional curves...
