Anyone know where I can swop a kidney for some heated grips for my Cruiser? I understand they go for about R8000-00.

I am pretty sure I can sell a kidney for that price. So if anyone is keen, we can just do a straight swop?

Otherwise, anyone know where I can get one 2nd hand? (the heated grips, not a kidney)

;)

Heated grips

Have a look at a reputable motorcycle accessories shop. I know that Oxford make a set of aftermarket heated grips that attach with velcro to your existing grips.

Grips

Oxford also do the full heated grip. Try Suzuki South, I have had good service from them and they normally have stock.

Fix yours

If yours are broken, how about just repairing them - I have kept mine going with a soldering iron and hocky-stick tape.

If you don't have any at all, then the price probably includes a new handlebar (the ones with heated grips come with holes for the wiring and a groove at the handle end for the heated grip wires).

Otherwise, go for aftermarket.  Or get good gloves.  I mean, this is a cruiser - it's not like you are wearing motocross gloves for offroad work and have to deal with cool mornings and hot work during the day.

Talking about organs - which did you donate in order to buy the bike in the first place?

1/2 a liver for a Cruiser.

You can sell off half of it as it grows back. An excellent investment!

Yes I am assuming that the R8 000 would be for the whole package.

And my bike never had heated grips, so maybe I should ask if I can get some of my liver back...?

Any more suggestions of good aftermarket gear? Thx for input. .

Vonk don't you think it is

Vonk don't you think it is time for a pic of your new bike after all the advice.

And a trip report, since you won't be going off road, pics of some pot holes you have to dodge will suffice!Smile

VERY NICE, I don't see snow or ice in the pics, why the heatedgrip worries?

Many safe miles, and don't forget to wave!Smile

Never too early to think ahead . . .

I did quite a lot of research about the bike and it seemed as if most of them came out with ABS and heated grips. As fate would have it the one I could afford, even thought it is in pretty good shape, did not have heated grips .

Hence my enquiry about the Grips. I thought I would throw a stone in the bush and see if I could maybe chase up some answers. You never know some one has half a bike lying around somewhere and I would just feel more complete having them. Right now, I am only 98 % satisfied. . .

I must admit that she goes wonderfully. This may just be my best purchase ever. .

If anyone ever finds they have some original BMW heated grips lying around, gimme a shout, I need +2 % happiness.

Nice bike. When are we going

Nice bike. When are we going for a ride?

Mine: 1998 R1200CMine: 1998 R1200C

You know that in order to fit the original grips, you also have to replace the complete RHS handlebar switchgear? It won't be a cheap exercise. Must say I haven't missed heated grips yet...
