STARTING PROBLEMS 1150gs.
4 July 2009 - 6:42pm
I have a 2003 twinspark 1150gs with 78000 km on the clock. I recently moved down to Mosselbay from the Transvaal. Since being here the bike has difficulty in starting when cold, otherwise it's fine. It only starts with the fourth or fifth time pressing the starter button and only if the fast idle is not activated. I never had this problem while staying in the Transvaal even on bitter cold mornings.
BMW in George told me that there can be something wrong with the brushes on the starter motor as it uses to much current and less go to the engin electronics.
Can this be ??
Please Help !!

I'm no expert, but why would
I'm no expert, but why would it start on the 3 or forth try if its using to much current. Surely your battery is getting more and more depleted with every attempt to start the bike. It does not mean that you do not have to replace the brushes on the starter, I just think its not the only problem. My 2 cents.
Lets Ride!!!

When was your bike last serviced? Did yoy ride the bike down?
How about: Fuel filter, airfilter, lambda sensor, cold start sensor, plugs, valve settings?
Anyway, welcome to the Western Cape.
