Hi guys & gals,

If you've read Eric and Hennie's most riveting and inspiring Zambian trip report on Wilddog (link here - but don't go there yet cos you won't be able to stop before reading ALL of it...) you would have noticed the cool stretcher they used on the trip. There was a subsequent thread discussing the stretcher with its creator, Michnus, from East London.

I snagged myself one of these and am so impressed that I've offered to become the Cape Town agent for Michnus's products. He has a website for his other gear, including some proper water- and dust-PROOF (not just water resistant) gear bags - some of which were also tested on the Zambian trip, surviving even on bikes being floated across rivers...

There is a similar one sold by AdvDesigns in the USA but it costs about R350 more - plus R600 shipping and 14% VAT on top of all that. Plus you have to buy extra ribs at an additional R350 if you weigh over 100kg. The local one has been successfully tested to 140kg but its official load rating is 100kg. Comes with a limited lifetime warranty - if a part breaks, you send it in and a replacement will be sent back to you free of charge.

The cost of this stretcher is R1400 and I'll bring mine along to the club meet tonight in case anybody wants to see it.

Cheers,
Tian

Sounds Good

I volunteer to have a snooze in it during the meeting Wink
