Tare/GVM
I have a question, as far as I know Tare is the weight of a vehicle and the GVM is the Gross Vehicle Mass, but I was just looking at the licence disc for my bike and the Tare is 249kg and the GVM is 243kg which means that my bike is over loaded by 6kg before I put petrol in it. Dose any one know what the story is behind this and dose any one have the same problem?
tare is the max load the vehicle can carry
Incorrect, Daniel. The Tare weight of a vehicle is the unladen or dry weight of the vehicle. The GVM is the dry weight plus the load it is carrying. Subtracting the Tare from the GVM gives you your actual load or net weight being carried
Mayhem spurred my curiosity and I had a quick squizz at my licence disk... Tare weight is 200kg, GVM is 436kg. Someone didn't get it quite right when they punched the numbers for your bike at the treffic depaartment.

Thats hardly surprising...
The traffic dept is not exactly a well oiled machine.
Jeremy I see you are riding a 650, and they may have got it correct on the 650's, are there any 1150's that have the same weight ratings aas mine (GSA 1150)? What are the weight ratings on the 1200's?
