Thank you to organizers and helpers on the day, thank you for sacrificing your time to help out.

To all the riders who turned up, I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a good day and left a little wiser, thank you for your support and participation.

Had a seriousely good day.  The orientation session will remain edged in my mind for the rest of my biking life:)  Thereafter it was just fantastic and I can recommend it to everybody, pitty we had to go home.....

Well orgsanised, smooth and

Well orgsanised, smooth and exhilerating.

There's something about the feel a thoroughbred between your knees lunging  down a track and diving into corners, then opening the throttle out a corner and the feel of the power...

Whoops it can be intoxicating!!!

Learing about cornering, leaning, brake, clutch and throttle control;.

Was good stuff.

Thanks the huge team of people who made this event memorable and worthwhile.

 

when I remember the amount of pepole saying from past experience that it was NOT going to happen, ..... well done to those that pushed through and found the right buttons to push and the right way of pushing.

Fantastic day

What a fantastic day at the track. I learned a lot about high speed cornering and bike control.

I timed Mike a few times at below 2 minutes per lap.  I dont know if that is fast for a 2001 Dakkie but he kept in the 1200 pack and catch them in the corners.  The straights saw them pulling away again.  It is also his knowledge of the track that helped. (He race a formula Vee there doing 1:27 laps)

Some info:

1200GS  Top speed 200+, 0 to 100 3.9sec, 79kw, weight 224kg, max laden weight 475kg.

All this while sitting upright and blasting down the straight.

 

Tyres

I did inflate the tyres a bit harder than normal to reduce the flexing.  This picture show how the nobblies flexed and rub against one another under hard cornering. (Darker marks in valley and sides)  I had a 'real' knobbly in front and took it a bit easier as there is only a few blocks on the track at any stage during cornering. Frown

Mike's front and rear is a bit more road orientated so he could push a bit harder.  There was ample scrubbing visible.

Again, thanks for the sacrifice, orgenising etc, etc.  Ill be back to learn more.

djedryan@gmail.com  He is doing a special. Up to 10 photographs of yourself at R 150.00 ! Best to quote him your references which appear when you move the cursor onto the photograph.
