If you are near the Waterfront on Friday 12th September, why not haul ass down to Atlantic BMW.
In the forecourt 14H00
The three 1150 GS Adventures will ride their last few hundred metres and then park abreast- each clocking over to 100 000km.
What makes this so unique is that us three buddies ride together.
The bikes are very well known around the Karoo, Western Cape, Doring River..... etc etc etc.
All are 2004 models, all are serviced and maintained by Atlantic BMW Waterfront and all have stories to tell.
Ian, Robbie n Andy will be celebrating the 100 000km mark together from 14H00 to about 15H30.
Come and wish them many more such kilometres as their adventures just add up.

We arrived at 13H30 at Atlantic Motorrad.
Why Atlantic Motorrad?
It seemed natural and appropriate.
All our bikes are serviced & maintained by Atlantic Motorrads workshop team.
Who can boast of his own mechanic for over ten years?
Atlantic Motorradhad erected their branded gazebo on the forecourt. - I really liked this touch
Thye took the bikes round and Ruan saw the odo click over to 100000 literally as her rode it up the ramp.
In fact he nearly went over.
70 000km in 18 months! and now its on 100 000
100 000km - on the button
We were welcomed by the team and presented with caps, we each had a commemorative shirt made for the occasion.
The back panel of the commemorative T-shirt
The front pocket - each shirt had its owners name at the top
Thanks to Lawrence, JR, Leon, Brendan, Tristan and all the team at atlantic for sharing this unique occasion for the great marque.
The workshop team that keep bikes safe to ride were acknowledged and thanked.
The workshop team Obed, Shane, Mugamat and Andrew,: Johnny & andrew II were absent
On parade, clean and neat in all their 100 000km glory: Andy, then Ian's then Robbies 1150GSA
on display under the Gazebo
Thanking our bikes for all the lovely miles
Leon, Ian & Robbie
We toasted the miles with a glass of bubbly
JR Rossouw and Ian reminiscing- Ian bought his bike from JR

All y'all that follow the
All y'all that follow the forum should remember the momentous occasion when three 1150GS Adventures celebrated clocking over 100 000km on the same day 12th September 2008.
Well almost year to the day Andyman's faithful clocked over onto 150 000km.
In fact, as I rode up to Ray's Biketique showroom in Diep River on 1st September 2009, the tumblers had just rolled over to 150k!
Tim, Rob, Ray n I celebrated the event.
Thanks Ray!
Andyman's GSA clocks over 150 000km: just after 17h00 I pulled in to Biketique after watching the tumblers roll over to 150 000
I guess 50 oookm since 12 Sept 08 is not your every day rider's achievement.
The bike is in better nick than last year, going strong and still gives me as much fun as ever.
In the intervening year, it has thrice been up to the Northern Cape, Namibia, West coast, Wild Coast, South Coast, all the passes, all over the Karoo, the Tankwa, the Doring and the Cederburg.
It has towed other bikes to safety, pumped many tyres from it's on-board tyre pump and carried many pillions on exhilerating trips.
On 17th July when I collected it from its 140 oookm service I booked the 150 oookm service for 3rd September.
The agent thought I was being funny, but with the trips planned for August I knew it would be about right.
And here it is, bang on the button.
And what with the fun planned ahead, I guess I better book the 160 oookm service when I collect it on Thursday 3rd.
It remains the mnost fun I ever have with my clothes on!
Viva 1150GSA, Viva!

160 000km has now also come
160 000km has now also come and gone.
Just after the BMWMCCC 30th birthday lunch out at Franschoek on Sunday 15th November 2009.
As I came over Sir Lowry's pass I saw the odo start to tumble over.
The Tank tumbles over 160 000km on 15th Nov 09: My BMW R1150 GSA is still running as sweet today as it did in 2004. No accident damage to speak of.
I get just as much fun on it now as I did yesterday.
On Saturday while in Somerset West returnig home to Gordons Bay, I sommer took the rail track service road in S/west to Sir Lowry's Pass village as my route.
The blast I got riding rough over veld and on twee spoor raised my spirits immensely.
The locals are now used to the Tank coming up huge and almost soundless as it whispers up and past, jinking in and out of the obstacles.
The detours through Chriss Nissen Park, with their water crossings and bundu-bashing are great.
With its super quiet engine at very low revs 'cos of the the high torque it's too easy to sneak up and surprise the locals.
There 1st reaction is sheer terror then huge smiles.
Generally I stop to pick up one or two kids for a kilo or two and when they see the tank coming they chase madly to jockey for a frontline position to cadge a ride.
God it s an amazing bike!

Well done Guys !
Good to hear as I have just bought a 2004 1150 GS with only 28000kms on the clock !
Just wish I had the experience of those kilos behind me as I have never been offroad before and rode my last bike 25 years ago ! The tank is a bit intimidating.

Is it is amazing the mileage
Is it is amazing the mileage these bikes can do with little or no problems ! People also make me laugh when they say that the mileage is high and the bike needs to be changed before it gives trouble , but they are driving cars with + 200000km which give them no trouble at all . Why do people think that because it is a motorcycle that it is unreliable ? My 1100 has 135000km on and is smoother than my 1150 with 30000km .I have seen reports of 1100's with 200000ml on the clock with no major problems . I wonder how the 1200 will do ?
