- I am Oscar van Zyl and have been a BMW Club member since 1978 and still enjoy the club events and especially the out rides and long rides. I started riding in 1950 and my first bike was a Triumph Thunderbird 650. Had several small bikes and eventually saw the light in 1978 when I bought my first but not last BMW which was a R80
