Is this an extra sheet of plastic with an air gap between it and the visor? I coat my visor with Mr. Min, and judicious opening and closing of it clears the mist when I stop at traffic lights. How much are these lenses? And does the light-sensitive one go clear at night?

I used these for some time.
I used these for some time. I had the light-sensitive one. It works VERY WELL, to prevent fogging up and is perfect in bright light and at night. The problem that I did have was after a few thousand kilos (on road) dust got in between the two lenses. You end up destroying the adhesive tape in an attempt to separate the lenses to clean out the dust. I hope somebody has a solution to this problem.

In the years riding in
In the years riding in England, the finest helmet I ever owned for winter was the Nolan. This comes with a pin-lock inner visor system which mimics the double glazing effect of windows in most European homes. Even when it is -5 outside, you could sit at the lights with the helmet closed and not a chance of fogging up. AS the Nolan helmet does not form a seal around the inner visor, I'm led to believe the secret to the success is that you are not breathing directly onto a piece of material which is directly exposed, and therefore at the outside temperature. Failing that, on the SHARK and AGV helmets, the best thing we could find (and use) was http://www.edirectory.co.uk/pf/880/mia/d/bob+heath+visor+anti+mist+spray... I'm a little disappointed
I'm a little disappointed with my bmw helmet - it's supposed to have anti-fog coating on the inside. But it has started flaking and peeling off on the sides, and just doesn't seem to work that well. How much are the products that Neil highlighted?

I am using the Shoei
I am using the Shoei insert. It works 100%. Prooved itself on the Coast to Karoo in the rain as well. I bought mine from Motorcycle toy story for R175. I use it only in cold conditions, so I carry it with in the tank bag on long trips. My first one lasted about 3 years before it was discoloured and actually made seeing more difficult. After I replaced it, the new one's effect was magical again. The shoei one is very soft and uses a silicone like strip to seal to your visor 100%. This insert is very soft and wiping it with durt still on it, will damage it totally.

I use a spray on product
I use a spray on product called PJ1 Fog Blocker. Spray on the inside and outside of visor. Then also my sunglasses or clear shades. Wipe with off with a clean soft cloth. So far been working like a treat. After 2 winters the bottle is getting a bit low - anybody seen it on a shelf somewhere?

This subject has come at
This subject has come at the right time, The visor misting up is one thing, who has the answer to spec's misting up? On our return from Prince Albert I rode in the rain and mist, opening the visor a tad solved the one problem but not so for spectacles. I needed to stop every 75 or so Kilo's to wipe the moisture from the lenses. The product "Rain-X anti fog" will that work for both applications? Ignore opinions, heed facts. Feet on the pegs, always.

Hi Rene Taking a que from
Hi Rene Taking a que from some earlier comments, the spectacles are misting up because they are colder than the surrounding air and your breath. This might be being caused by the fact that your visor is open to prevent ''it'' from misting up. If you got the anti-fog double-glazing items described by Neil, then you could keep your visor closed without having it mist up. This would allow the air in your helmet to warm up, thus warming up your specs and stopping them from misting up. Just something to try. regards Charles

What you are trying to
What you are trying to prevent at all costs is the need to open your visor. In wet weather, the moment you do this, the seal is gone and water then runs down the inside of your visor. Also, any of these products which you smear/wipe on your visor are great but when the rain enters the helmet and runs down the inside it's a mess. My System 5 in winter with Dr Bobs is great, however in town your breath condensates on the inside of the visor causing the streaks to appear. Charles got it right in that you want to trap and warm the air that's in your helmet. If as you breathe cold air is entering (ala Enduro lids), then of course you'll be blowing hot air onto a cold surface and you're in the dark. So the best suggestion is of course a fog insert. I am loathe, however, to fix something to my visor, which convinces me that the Nolan was the best helmet I could use for winter. Hi Gents, Dale I've bought/
Hi Gents, Dale I've bought/ seen them at Cycle City,Motor Cycle Toy Store ,TracMac, Linex Yamaha and Suzuki South. I agree fully with Arno my Shoei helmet came with its own pinlock Anti -fog insert...it scratches very easily +-R190 (Only for Shoei) The Progrip...+-R160 from TracMac currently using in my BMW Enduro Helmet ....see post.Slight colour seems okay for night, but check for yourself! Was able to polish out slight scratches! The FogCity +- R250 clear.. not light sensitive, not used yet. HyperOptics is another make...the light sensitive is bluish though.

Cloud..Steven read my post
Cloud..Steven read my post ..BMW Enduro Helmet maint and repair. It may help. On a trip in the rain to Montague I went from rest room to restroom using the hand-drier to dry out the Enduro's anti-fog layer...in the manual (sorry for the rude word) is says it works like a desicant ie. can only 'absorb' a limited amount then fogs up. The stick down insert works well keeping dust out.

Pin-lock visor insert vor Shoei

My pin-lock visor insert for my Shoei needs to be replaced. It does not seal well any more and now my visor mist up between the visor and insert which is very difficult to wipe away. Does anybody know where I can get a new visor insert?

Thanks
